DPS identifies Colorado City man killed in Tuesday I-20 crash

MITCHELL COUNTY, Texas -- The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the man who died in the crash Tuesday morning on Interstate 20 near Westbrook in Mitchell County.

Killed was Samuel Manuel Lujan, 55, of Colorado City.

Lujan, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was driving a pickup on I-20 when he "drove straight through a curve in the roadway near a bridge."

"The vehicle slid up a concrete barrier, rolled over to its left and off the bridge," DPS spokesman Fred Biddle said in an email. "It then struck a concrete embankment."

Lujan's body was taken to Kiker-Seale Funeral Home in Colorado City.

The crash remains under investigation.

One person was killed Tuesday in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 20 between mile markers 210 and 211 just west of Colorado City.

The identity of the deceased and the cause of the accident weren't immediately available.

According to the Mitchell County Sheriff's Office, a black Dodge Ram pickup went through a guardrail, off of a bridge and struck the concrete embankment below.

The truck was reportedly traveling eastbound on I-20.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating.

The accident was reported just before 8 a.m.
