10-year-old boy, 2 others injured after collision in south Abilene
ABILENE, Texas - Three people -- including a 10-year-old boy -- were taken to the hospital after a pickup truck crashed into another Monday evening on Butternut Street in south Abilene.
According to police at the scene, the driver of a blue pickup couldn't see around a truck that was unloading items on South 13th Street but tried to cross the intersection at Butternut around 4:45 p.m. The pickup moved into Butternut, and that's when another pickup truck traveling south slammed into its side. A woman in her early 30s and a 10-year-old boy were both in the blue pickup truck and had to be taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said. The boy was reportedly unresponsive after the crash, but was awake and breathing when firefighters arrived.
The driver of the other pickup truck, a female teenager, was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.
No identities were released, but police say they cited the driver of the blue pickup truck for failure to yield.
