3 indicted in Abilene for sex crimes


ABILENE, Texas - A Taylor County grand jury returned indictments for three separate sex crime cases Thursday.

Harold Gene Jefferson, 68, is charged with sexual assault of a child. According to court records, Jefferson said that he was the latest in a number of men that the 15-year-old had sex with in exchange for drugs.

According to court documents, the girl was placed by CPS with a woman who was using crack-cocaine. The documents say that the woman got the 15-year-old girl hooked on the drug, and when they ran out of money, the woman would "sell" the girl for drugs. The girl was removed from Jefferson's home by police and returned to her parents.

Jose Alonso Gonzalez, 39, was indicted for continuous sexual abuse of a child. Court records state it happened from or about Jan. 3, 2010 through April 30, 2010. The girl was 10 years old at the time. Gonzalez is currently booked in the Brown County Jail on three other charges of aggravated assault of a child, and two counts of indecency with a child.

Marshall Keith Carter, 21, is charged with aggravated sexual assault. According to court documents sexually assaulted a child on more than one occasion beginning September 2013. Detectives with the Abilene Police Department say that Carter admitted to the assaults.
