Abilene firefighters, other crews battle fire at southeast Texas home damaged by Harvey

VIDOR, Texas - A home that was damaged by Hurricane Harvey has been destroyed by fire.

Around 1 a.m. Friday, Strike Team 122 -- which includes Abilene firefighters -- was called to a home in Vidor. It was too late to save the home, but firefighters were able to save an RV and a nearby shop.


A family was staying in the RV because the home that burned was flooded during Harvey.

The house is a total loss and the cause is undetermined.

The strike teams is made up of firefighters from Abilene, Wichita Falls, Melissa, Frisco, Orange County and Travis County.

They have been in Vidor for nearly a month helping fire departments that lost equipment or their station in the hurricane.
