Abilene High's Abram Smith to sign with Baylor University
ABILENE, Texas - Abilene High School running back Abram Smith will be taking his talents to Baylor University.
Smith's family made the announcement on social media a day ahead of a signing event planned for Friday.
Smith, who had previously committed to the University of Tulsa, racked up more than 5,000 yards in his career, with close to 2,000 coming in his senior year.
According to Smith and his family, he will be making the trip to Baylor on Monday to enroll. The official signing ceremony will take place Friday at 11:45 a.m. inside the Field house.
Baylor University hired Matt Rhule of Temple University in December to be the Bears' head coach following Jim Grobe's interim season.
Smith, in an interview on ESPN radio 1660, stated QB Charlie Brewer's pledge to be at BU helped in his decision.
According to ESPN.com's recruiting page, Smith is listed at 6-0', 196 lbs, and ran a 4.59 second 40-yard dash.
