Abilene man accused of sexually assaulting 14-year-old girl
ABILENE, Texas - A 19-year-old Abilene man has been indicted by a Taylor County grand jury for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old child. According to court documents, Colton Garrett went to a house party in May 2016 when he was helping a friend take care of the victim. The victim said she felt ill after she consumed alcohol and went upstairs to lay down. The indictment says Garrett laid down beside the victim and she passed out. When the victim was in and out of consciousness, Garrett would touch her inappropriately. She tried to push his hands away, according to the documents, and told him "no" and to "leave her alone." When she woke again, he was straddling her with is pants undone. She continued to tell him no and push him away. The next morning, the victim woke up to Garrett sleeping next to her with her panties tossed to the side, according to the indictment. Merkel police recovered that and additional DNA evidence. The report states Garrett admitted to sleeping in the same bed with the victim. Garrett was arrested on May 23, 2016 and released on a $35,000 bond.
