Abilene man sentenced to 3 years in prison for striking young child
ABILENE, Texas - A 26-year-old Abilene man was sentenced Friday to three years in prison for hitting a 1-year-old child that his wife was babysitting at their home during April 2015. Grant Bradley Stine, who previously confessed to his pastor, pleaded guilty in July to injury to a child. According to court documents, Stine's wife showed the mother a bruise on the boy's head when she came to pick him up. She told the mother the toddler, according to Stine, had gotten hurt when he fell off of a TV stand while Stine was watching him. During October of 2015, Stine asked to meet with the child's mother and her husband. He told them the boy hadn't fallen. Stine told them that he struck the child in the head after he couldn't get him to stop crying, court records show. One of the pastors at his wife's church confirmed that he also had received a confession from Stine.
