Abilene man stabbed during fight with couple in San Angelo
SAN ANGELO, Texas - An Abilene man attempted to stop an argument between a couple in downtown San Angelo but instead ended up being assaulted and stabbed, police say.
It happened around 1:20 a.m. Sunday when San Angelo police officers found the couple fighting with the victim near a parking lot at S. Chadbourne Street, according to a news release. Lydia Sharp, 30, was seen on top of the victim punching him in the face while 22-year-old Zachary Navarro stood nearby. Officers stopped the fight and detained the couple.
Police learned that the victim was walking with a friend when they allegedly heard Navarro yelling obscenities at Sharp, according to police. When the victim yelled at him to stop, Navarro ran across the street and began assaulting him. That's when Navarro pulled out a knife and cut him several times, police said. The victim's hand was also lacerated by the knife.
The victim was treated for minor injuries by the San Angelo Fire Department.
Navarro was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Sharp was arrested for assault causing bodily injury. Both have been released on bond, police say.
