Abilene Target set for facelift, progress made on new Cinemark theatre
You may have noticed something taking up a lot of the Target parking lot on Abilene's south side.
It's a big tent and storage containers. They've been brought in as the store prepares for a major remodel.
City permits issued Dec. 28 show the company beginning work on about $559,000 worth of renovations to the property.
Records show plans for interior and exterior upgrades.
Meanwhile, there's quite a bit of progress over on Abilene's north side.
Some of the walls and framing has been going up for the new Cinemark movie theater off of Interstate 20.
It was early last year that Abilene City Council approved the rezoning for the project that will include 12 screens.
Ground was broken in the fall.
No word yet on a projected opening date for the theatre.
