Abilene teen indicted for threatening Taylor County judge

Christopher Isaac Martinez

ABILENE, Texas - A 17-year-old Abilene man was indicted Thursday for allegedly threatening a Taylor County judge.

Christopher Isaac Martinez threatened Judge Paul Rotenberry on Nov. 22, court documents show.

Martinez allegedly threatened the judge at a time when he was considering putting Martinez in residential placement. Martinez had been placed in Child Protective Services for medical neglect and his behavior. Martinez refused to appear at his hearing and began making threats towards Rotenberry's safety.

The Abilene Police Department discovered text messages between Martinez and an acquaintance that said, "If CPS and the judge don't back off, they gonna come up missing."

Court records also say Martinez sent a Facebook picture of the judge to his friend trying to identify the judge.

Martinez is booked in Taylor County Jail on a $100,000 bond for a third-degree felony charge of retaliation.
