ACHS football coach Ysmael Olvera will not return for 2017-2018 season

ABILENE, TX - After finishing his first season 3-8, Abilene Christian High School head football coach Ysmael Olvera will not be returning to the Panthers program for the 2017-2018 season, according to a source close to the program.

Olvera took over ACHS football after his younger cousin Jesse led the program for two seasons before leaving for a coaching job in Dallas prior to the start of 2016 fall camp. Ysmael signed a one year contract in hopes to be offered an extension.

The school will now begin in search for a head coach, with a source releasing they already have an eye on candidates. The school is searching for a more full-time candidate with academic teaching credentials to run the program, and be involved in other sports.

No timetable was given as to when ACHS would be announcing Olvera's replacement.
