ACU debuts new Wildcat stadium
ABILENE, Texas - Abilene Christian University played their first football game of the season at their new Wildcat Stadium. The stadium made its debut on Saturday. Hours before the game, ACU fans were at The Wildcat Country Tailgate event with live music and food. This was the first football game on campus in over 50 years. ACU football played at Shotwell Stadium, which is shared by Abilene and Cooper High School. There's a first time for everything when it comes to one ACU Alumni. He said it was his first time tailgating, his first time back at his old campus, and his first time at the new stadium. "It's like your one stop shop it's going to great in that capacity you got the basketball, volleyball, water polo, and football on campus," ACU alumni said. ACU ' s softball coach, Bobby Reeves, said having the stadium on campus is a big deal for the school. He mentioned that now all sports can play on campus. "I just think it's huge to get it on campus because everybody will be a part of the tailgating, " Reeves said. " Everybody will be a part of the atmosphere. This will fit right in with all of our other sports."
