ABILENE, Texas - The Abilene Independent School District will have a new face on its school board after approving a special appointment to replace Stan Lambert.

The board unanimously approved Bill Enriquez to fill Lambert's unexpired term. Lambert resigned from his Place 6 Seat in December after being elected as state representative for District 17.

Enriquez is a life-long resident of Abilene who does business in both the automotive and real estate industry.

"I have been involved with the district as a volunteer serving on committees ... for the past 25 years. So I felt like I could be an addition that would bring a different perspective to the board," said Enriquez.

The Place 6 Seat will be up for a vote during the municipal elections this May.
