Albany City Councilman gets 10 years of probation for indecency with child
ANSON, Texas - Albany City Councilman Kidd Thomas Waddell pleaded guilty to indecency with a child by contact Monday, according to the 259th District Attorney's Office.
That charge was downgraded from Waddell's original charge, which was aggravated sexual assault of a child. Court documents said the offenses happened in November 2015 and the victim was five years old.
Waddell received 10 years of probation for the second-degree felony and will have to register as a sex offender.
A statement from Waddell's lawyer issued in April 2016 said "Mr. Waddell looks forward to having his day in court so the real truth about these matters can come to light."
KTXS has reached out to the city of Albany for information on Waddell's status as a city councilman. We will update this article when we learn more.
