ABILENE, Texas - Big Brothers Big Sisters Abilene wants to take you on a blast from the past at the 18th annual Bowl for Kids' Sake event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday.

The old-school themed party will take place at PrimeTime Family Entertainment Center, 4541 Loop 322 in Abilene.

Mallory Ashford with Big Brothers Big Sisters Abilene says 23 teams of four to six bowlers raised $625 each for the organization, totaling more than $32,000. They're celebrating their efforts with the bowl-a-thon, pizza and door prizes.

All of the money goes to making and maintaining matches between the mentors and kids in Abilene.

On average, it costs $1,200 to make and support a match for one year. For every $1,200 raised, Big Brothers Big Sisters is able to take one child off of the waiting list.
