Another I-35 rock-throwing incident occurs after arrest of man, 44

Marquel Raymond Boone

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Less than 24 hours after authorities made the first arrest in the more than 80 rock-throwing incidents that have hit cars on Interstate 35 in Austin over the past two years, it happened again.

The Austin American-Statesman reports that Austin police say they don't believe the man arrested Friday is responsible for all of the incidents.

On Friday, police identified 44-year-old Marquel Raymond Boone as the first suspect arrested in the cases. Boone, charged with attempted aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, remained jailed Sunday on $50,000 bond. Jail records didn't list an attorney for him.

Early Saturday, police received a call from a motorist who said a rock hit his bumper as he drove on I-35.

Saturday's rock-throwing incident was the 86th of its kind reported since 2014.
