BBB warns of fraudulent shopping sites during Holiday season

ABILENE, Texas - Millions of Americans will be looking online for a good deal this Holiday season, but they 'll also be the targets of thieves. The Better Business Bureau of Abilene wants to warn you about fake websites popping up this time of year. According to the BBB, there are fraudulent sites selling everything from gadgets to puppies. "They're basically crooks from west Africa who are setting up sites saying that they can sell dogs that are thoroughbred animals on their website for huge discounts, up to 50 to 80 percent off," said John Riggins, spokesman for the BBB. Holiday thieves are also looking to see what hot items are trending and what people want to get their hands on. "If you're looking for that popular item and someone is claiming to have it for half the price or a tremendous discount, you need to do a little more research into that website," Riggins said .
