Big Country remembers 9/11 with special events

ABILENE, Texas - There are several events going on in the Big Country to remember those who lost their lives on 9/11.

The Taylor County Commissioners' Court is inviting the public to an unveiling ceremony at 10 a.m. Monday. T hey're unveiling the Blue Star Memorial to pay tribute to our military armed forces. It will be at the Taylor County Courthouse.

The VFW Post 6873 will have a breakfast to honor our first responders. It's free for first responders. The buffet style breakfast will be $5 for other customers and will be from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m .

Dyess Air Force Base will honor those who gave their lives on September 11th. The 7th Civil Engineer Squadron will conduct a 9/11 memorial physical training session at 6:45 a.m. The event will be a ruck march around base with emergency responders in full gear. The 317th Airlift Wing will conduct a retreat ceremony at 4 p.m.

There will be an Honor and Remember ceremony in Brownwood at 9 a.m. in the sanctuary at Victory Life Church. There will be guest speakers and refreshments. The public is invited to attend.
