Brownwood City Council holds hearing on proposed tax rate hike

BROWNWOOD, Texas - The city of Brownwood is proposing its first tax rate increase in 18 years and citizens got the opportunity on Tuesday to voice their support or disapproval.

Brownwood is proposing a rate of $.79 per $100 valuation. That means a home valued at $100,000 will be paying $790 in taxes.

The city is holding another public hearing on its proposed tax rate hike on Tuesday, September 11, at 9 a.m. at city hall.
