Brownwood ISD approves new $500,000 scoreboard
BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Brownwood Independent School Board approved a $499,413 contract on Monday to install a new scoreboard for Gordon Wood Stadium.
They selected South Dakota-based company Daktronics from among two other companies to build the new board. It will have a video board that stands at 18 feet high and 33 feet wide.
Gordon Wood's current scoreboard was installed in 1995 and is falling apart.
Brownwood ISD Superintendent Dr. Joe Young said at Monday's meeting the new scoreboard will have a five-year warranty on both parts and labor.
It will also come with three video cameras, according to Brownwood Athletic Director Kyle Maxfield.
Young said they're paying less than they had budgeted, for a system of that quality.
The district hopes to have it installed before the start of the football season.
