BROWNWOOD, Texas - Brownwood Mayor Stephen Haynes asked for the public's feedback on the possibility of building a new civic center during Friday's State of the City address.

He said the proposal would give the city more options in attracting events since Howard Payne University rents the Brownwood Coliseum eight months out of the year to host their sport games.

"Some people might think that it might be a facility they might not go to," Brownwood resident Mark Cope said. "But at the same time, if it's bringing in programs and things like that, it's bringing in money into our economy."

Cope said it would be a good idea for the city.

The city hasn't taken any action or made a decision yet.
