Brownwood police arrest drunk, pregnant woman in high-speed chase
BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Brownwood Police Department arrested a 26-year-old pregnant woman Thursday afternoon after she led them on a car chase.
The woman's speed topped 60 mph while traveling in city limits to avoid officers, according to Brownwood Police. Amber Elaine White was arrested for evading arrest, driving while intoxicated, and aggravated assault of a police officer.
Police said they were notified of a reckless driver at 1 p.m. traveling south from Bangs. They attempted to initiate a stop, but she continued speeding.
The pursuit continued on the north side of Brownwood near the intersection of Main Street and Austin Avenue, according to police. Police officers called the Brown County Sheriff's Office for assistance.
White's car gave out at the Kwik Kar Oil and Lube on East Commerce Street after her tires went flat. according to police.
The chase lasted for about eight minutes.
Police said White almost hit an officer and a sheriff's deputy with her car.
White was freed on a $23,000 bond on Friday, according to the Brown County Jail's website.
