Buddy Walk in Abilene raises awareness for Down syndrome

ABILENE, Texas - People gathered in south Abilene to support and raise awareness for individuals with Down syndrome. The Upside Down Club held its 6 th annual Buddy Walk at Beltway Park Church Saturday morning. The group said it's a day for the community to come together to promote acceptance of those with Down syndrome.

"This is important to me because my daughter has Down syndrome," said Organizer Susan Pate. "She was born 8 years ago and so when you have a baby with Down syndrome it wasn't something we were prepared for and so we just kind of formed a club, The Upside Down Club, the upside of having down."

There were activities for the entire family including food vendors, pony rides, Disney characters and much more. They're also getting ready for Down syndrome awareness month in October .
