Capital murder trial begins Tuesday for Brownwood teen
BROWNWOOD, Texas - The capital murder trial for a Brownwood teen accused of killing his baby daughter will start on Tuesday.
The 35th Judicial District Judge Stephen Ellis will preside over 19-year-old Jekaris Bryant's trial, according to the district clerk's office.
Bryant waived his right to a jury trial and opted for a bench trial instead, according to court documents obtained on Friday.
Police arrested Bryant last January after they said family members found his baby not breathing.
His daughter was pronounced dead on Dec. 13, 2015 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
