Caught on camera: Valuable painting stolen in San Angelo, no charges filed
SAN ANGELO, Texas - There will be no charges pressed against the man who stole a $9,000 painting right off the wall of San Angelo City Hall in late December.
The man who appears to be in his 60s can be seen in security footage taking off his jacket, removing the painting from the wall on the 4th floor of city hall, and hiding it under his jacket. The man then left the building and left in his vehicle.
Police recovered the painting, which was on loan from the San Angelo Museum of Fine Art, on Thursday morning.
The museum has declined to press charges but did not say why.
