City approves grant for new Brownwood wine bar
BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Brownwood City Council on Tuesday approved a building incentive grant for a new wine and craft beer bar.
La Sorella Wine Bar, located on 2803 Austin Avenue, is expected to open in the middle of May, according to owner Leona Cleveland. The city will provide the business with a $5,000 grant once the work is completed.
Leona Cleveland said she's remodeling an old home into a place that will offer quality selections of wine and craft beers. The city started the program offering building grants last year.
"Very casual, very intimate ... I want people to think they're coming into my home and having a glass of wine with me," Cleveland said on Wednesday.
She said they'll also be offering a small plate food selection.
Once construction is finished, this will be the second wine bar to open in Brown County. A winery opened in the city of Early earlier this month.
