Eagles not feeling the pressure in Thursday night's must-win at Keller
ABILENE, Texas - Tonight, Abilene High kicks off week 10 of Texas football with a playoff mentality, as the Warbirds need to win-out these last two weeks of the regular season, beginning with this Thursday night district road trop at Keller to have a shot at the postseason. Coming off its bye week, the Eagles (2-6, 1-3) should be well rested for this one as they hope its defense continues to put them in position to win. Last year, this was their district clincher inside a packed Shotwell Stadium - a 59-21 rout of the Indians but in 2017, their meeting with Keller just may be even more important. Abilene Highs offense, which has been riding a rollercoaster of a season, will have an opportunity to shine Thursday night, with Keller's defense averaging 23 points to opponents this season, the main focus is within. And the Eagles are confident being in the driver's seat of their playoff fate. " They still know there's a lot of football in this district left to be played, but they feel a renewed sense of excitement because now we control ourselves," said AHS head coach Del Van Cox. "If we don't win the next two, then we have no shot. So we think we're in the playoffs right now and that's the way we've approached it." Kick-off at Keller ISD Athletic Complex is slated for 7:30 p.m.
