ABILENE, Texas - During their three straight losses to begin the year, the Abilene High Eagles were slowing building up to putting a complete game together.

That project was fulfilled in their week four victory over Odessa High, 31-21.

"If you want to be a great team you've got to do that all the time. We're just figuring out how to do that," head coach Del Van Cox said. "The experience level allows you do that. We're looking to build on that."

Cox points to increased consistency on the offensive and defensive lines as a key, but there are still improvements to be made even after the Eagles' win.

"We're making sure we're eliminating all the things we didn't do right last Thursday, get better and play faster."

Abilene High begins District 3-6A action by hosting the Haltom Buffalos on Friday night at 7:30 at Shotwell Stadium.

AHS defeated Haltom 44-18 in 2016.
