Faulty wiring blamed for north Abilene structure fire
ABILENE, Texas - An early morning structure fire in north Abilene has been determined to be accidental.
The blaze, which was reported about 4:30 a.m. Monday, occurred in the 2800 block of Old Anson Road between Interstate 20 and Ambler Avenue.
An Abilene police officer called it in after spotting smoke in the area. It was quickly determined that a workshop was on fire. Firefighters extinguished the fire "without damage to any other buildings or property," an Abilene Fire Department news release said.
"The cause of the fire is determined to be accidental in nature with the source being faulty wiring within the structure," the release said.
The Abilene Fire Department is now working to determine the cause of an early morning barn fire in north Abilene.
First responders were called out around 4:30 a.m. Monday to the 2800 block of Old Anson Road between Interstate 20 and Ambler Avenue.
An Abilene police officer originally saw the fire and called it in.
The barn was used for storage. No one was inside the structure at the time of the fire.
It wasn't immediately known if there are injuries.
