Fire department: Small blaze in south Abilene result of arson


ABILENE, Texas - The Abilene Fire Department quickly put out a small fire Thursday morning in south Abilene, but it's now being investigated as an arson.

According to a release from AFD, crews responded to the fire in the 2000 block of South 14th Street and found fire in the ceiling along with smoke throughout the building. Firefighters were able to control the blaze quickly.

While the damage is estimated at $5,000, AFD says the cause of the fire was arson.
