Former HPU nursing school dean responds to students' lawsuits
BROWNWOOD, Texas - In court documents filed this week, the former nursing school dean for Howard Payne University in Brownwood is denying all the allegations made against her in a lawsuit.
Nine former students are suing HPU for making false and misleading statements regarding a nursing program it abruptly canceled back in 2016.
Last month, HPU submitted a letter intent with the Texas Board of Nursing announcing it will launch a new "pre-licensure Bachelor of Nursing degree program."
Shawntay Sparks-Hubbard, the former HPU nursing school dean, filed a "general denial" on Monday at the Brown County Courthouse of all the allegations made against her.
