McMurry University women's basketball standout Sham Hunter (Abilene, Texas / Abilene H.S.) has earned her second-consecutive "Player of the Week" award from the American Southwest Conference, it was announced by the league office. The latest award covered all games over the two weeks of the holiday break.

Hunter, a guard, led the War Hawks to wins in two of three non-conference games over the holiday break. She scored double-figures in each game and fell short of a triple-double in the comeback win at Southwestern with 13 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists.

Thus far in 2016-17, Hunter is leading the War Hawks' regulars in scoring (13.7 p.p.g.), rebounds (8.4 r.p.g.), assists (4.1 a.p.g.) and steals (2.2 s.p.g.). Hunter is also shooting nearly 45 percent from the floor and better than 83 percent from the free throw line. She has two double-doubles this season.
