ABILENE, Texas -- An Abilene man was indicted by a Taylor County grand jury Thursday after being accused of breaking into a woman's home, threatening and stealing from her, then making his getaway in a stolen pickup.

Martin Gregory Estrada, 29, is charged with aggravated robbery and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

KTXS obtained court documents that state Estrada and another man forced their way into a woman's home looking for her boyfriend in the early morning hours of July 7, 2016.

When they were unable to find him there, they ransacked her apartment, stealing jewelry and electronics. The document states that one of the men "pointed a black pistol at her and told her to put down the phone."

While the men were in the apartment the woman boyfriend arrived and knocked on the door. When he saw the two men in the apartment, he ran away and called the police.

Estrada and the other man then allegedly left with the stolen property in a pickup that was later reported stolen from a different person.

The owner of the pickup, who discovered it missing several hours after the robbery was reported, had a friend drive him around town until they found the stolen truck parked in front of a home in North Abilene.

The documents say that as the owner went to look at the truck Estrada came running out of the house, claiming that he had actually taken the truck from the man who stole it. No one had been given permission to take or drive the truck.

He remains in the Taylor County Jail on bonds totaling $35,000.
