Indictment: Abilene man fires shot during fight with roommate

Rafael Renteria Jr. was charged with deadly conduct during September 2016 after getting into an argument qwith his roommate and firing a shot from his gun.

A Taylor County grand jury on Thursday indicted an Abilene man for deadly conduct after a fight with his roommate ended in gunfire.

According to the indictment, Rafael Renteria, Jr., 35, had an argument with his roommate, who's also his sister, about the rent. The argument happened Sept. 24 at their home in the 1400 block of Anson Avenue in north Abilene.

Renteria's sister said he then went to his room, closed the door and fired a shot from his gun.

Police recovered the spent shell casing.
