ABILENE, Texas - We started the day with showers in our area Tuesday. Thunderstorms became more numerous in the Heartland late Tuesday afternoon. Lightning and gusty winds were the main weather problems.

Severe storms formed Tuesday evening near Throckmorton in our northeastern region that produced large hail. Thundershowers with gusty winds formed just north of Sweetwater about 8 pm and moved east to northern Abilene and Albany before fading by 11 pm.

Quiet weather is forecast for the rest of Tuesday night. Low temperatures Wednesday morning should be in the lower 70s.

Another very warm day is expected for Wednesday with partly cloudy skies. High temperatures should be in the middle to upper 90s - about 10 degrees above normal.

Scattered thunderstorms are forecast to develop late afternoon and continue into Wednesday evening. Rain chances are around 30 percent. Lightning and gusty winds are likely with some hail possible.

Storms should fade again by midnight. Low temperatures Thursday morning should be in the lower 70s.

Scattered afternoon thunderstorms should be in our area again Thursday and last into Thursday evening. High temperatures Thursday should be in the lower to middle 90s.

We are forecasting dry weather for the first day of fall (Friday) and the weekend. Look for mostly fair skies each day with high temperatures in the lower 90s.
