ABILENE, Texas - We are tracking the very cold arctic air near the Red River Wednesday evening. It is forecast to move south into the Big Country Thursday morning and through our entire area before sundown Thursday. Dry weather is expected here for Thursday, but light amounts of snow are possible for Friday.

Partly cloudy skies are forecast for Wednesday night. Low temperatures Thursday morning should be in the 30s. As the cold air spreads south, look for strong north winds near 20 mph. Temperatures should stay in the 30s all day with wind chills in the 20s.

Cloudy skies are expected Thursday night with lows in the upper teens Friday morning. Make sure you protect your pipes and pets. Temperatures should only warm into the 20s Friday with cloudy skies and light snow possible mainly in the Big Country. Snowfall amounts should be less than one inch, but icy spots could develop on bridges and overpasses.

Skies are forecast to clear Friday night. Low temperatures Saturday morning should be in the middle teens. Look forward to sunny skies Saturday with afternoon temperatures in the upper 30s. Freezing temperatures should be back for Saturday night with lows in the lower 20s Sunday morning. Sunny skies and south winds should warm us back into the 40s Sunday afternoon. High temperatures should be back in the 60s Monday through Wednesday.
