ABILENE, Texas - Fortunately, our highs in the Big Country stayed a few degrees below the record highs for the day. The warmth will continue on Monday but that should be it for the warmth this week.

Starting the day on Monday, expect muggy and mild conditions in the upper 50s to low 60s. Skies will be mostly clear and cloud cover will build in through the day. Highs will get to the mid-80s to low 90s. Our next cold front will be just to the north of our area and depending on how far it pushes south, will determine our northern counties' highs for the day.

Tuesday morning, the front will not have made much progress but as we go through the day, expect it to move all the way through. Our winds will shift to the north at 15 to 25 mph. Highs will drop to the low to mid-70s. Cloud cover will continue to build in overnight and rain will start to move in. Rain chances increase for the majority of the area. Lows drop to the low to mid-40s.

Expect to start the day Wednesday very rainy. Rain will linger through much of the day. Highs will only get to the mid to upper 40s so be sure to bundle up! Rain will move out in the afternoon and skies will clear overnight. Lows will drop to the mid-30s. A few low lying areas could dip into freezing.

Thursday, things quiet down and highs return to the low to mid-60s as the sun works back out. Winds return to the south at about 10 mph. Overnight, lows drop only to the mid 40s to low 50s.

Friday and Saturday, things warm back into the 70s with mostly sunny skies.

Hold on during this rollercoaster week! -MM-
