KTXS Forecast: Building rain chances into the overnight hours
ABILENE, Texas - Wednesday morning will start off with mostly clear to partly cloudy skies, have temperatures in the mid/ upper 50s and winds from the south at 5-15 mph. There is a chance of fog for some areas this morning as well.
Wednesday afternoon skies will clear a bit and highs will reach the mid/ upper 70s with winds from the south/ southeast at 5-15 mph. Rain chances will build to around 10-20 percent in the early afternoon. Into tonight thunderstorm chances build to 30-50 percent across the area with best rain chances for the northwestern part of the Big Country. As of Wednesday morning severe thunderstorms are not expected. Lows tonight will cool to the low 60s.
Thursday morning will see lingering thunderstorm chances for the area but clear out into the afternoon. Highs by then will be in the mid/ upper 70s with winds from the south at 10-15 mph. Thursday night will be mostly cloudy with lows in the low 60s.
For Good Friday we see partly cloudy skies with highs in the upper 70s/ low 80s and winds from the south at 10-20 mph. There is a 10-20 percent chance of scattered thundershowers for the region. Friday night we will be partly cloudy to mostly cloudy with lows in the low/ mid-60s.
On Saturday, rain chances linger around 10-20 percent. Skies will be partly cloudy with highs in the low 80s and winds from the south at 10-15 mph. Saturday night we become mostly cloudy and lows cool to the low 60s.
Sunday, which is Easter, the area will remain partly cloudy to mostly cloudy with highs in the low 80s and winds will be from the southeast at 10-15 mph. There will be a 20-30 percent chance of thunderstorms for the area through the afternoon. Sunday night rain chances remain and lows will be in the low 60s.
Currently for the start of the work week, both Monday and Tuesday will be partly cloudy with a 10-30 percent chance of scattered thundershowers to thunderstorms. Highs through this period will be in the low to mid 80s.
