KTXS Forecast: Cloudy, cool and rainy day expected for the Big Country.

ABILENE, Texas - Good morning! As you're getting up conditions outside will be in the low 40s to upper 40s with cloudy skies and scattered showers across the region. There will be a slight chance of fog for some locations again this morning. You will want to take an umbrella and warm jacket with you when you leave the house today.

Wednesday afternoon the region will experience highs well below normal for this time of year. Temperatures will remain in the low/ upper 40s with cloudy skies through most of the day and have winds from the north at 5-15 mph. There will be a 50-70 percent chance of scattered showers through the afternoon, picking up possibly an inch of rain. Late this evening skies will begin to clear and rain chances move out. Wednesday night the region will become mostly clear to partly cloudy with lows cooling to the low/ mid-30s, which means some locations could see freezing temperatures.

By Thursday the region will clear out to mostly sunny skies with winds switching to the southeast at 5-10 mph. This will allow our afternoon highs to warm to the upper 50s/ low 60s. Thursday night the region will be mostly clear to partly cloudy with lows in the upper 30s/ low 40s.

Into Friday, highs will warm closer to average as temperatures reach the mid/ upper 60s with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies and winds will be out of the south at 5-10 mph. Friday night will become partly cloudy with lows in the low 50s.

Into the weekend, for Saturday, highs will bounce back to the low/ mid-70s with partly cloudy skies and winds will build out of the southwest at 5-15 mph. Saturday night our next cold front will begin to move into the region. This will keep skies partly cloudy with lows in the mid/ upper 40s.

By Sunday afternoon highs will fall back to the low/ mid-60s with continued partly cloudy conditions and have winds from the northeast at 5-15 mph. Sunday night lows will cool to the mid-40s with partly cloudy skies.

Currently, for Monday and Tuesday, it looks like the region will warm back to around average in the upper 60s/ low 70s with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies and winds will switch back to the south at 5-10 mph. Lows through this period will be in the upper 40s/ low 50s with partly cloudy conditions.
