KTXS Forecast: Cold fronts this week bring us back to normal
ABILENE, Texas - We're coming up on three weeks without rain in a majority of the Big Country and the dry weather is expected to stick around this week as well. We saw temperatures climb about 10 degrees above average Sunday and will see them up to 15 degrees above average Monday.
Overnight, expect milder lows as south winds continue between 5 to 10 mph. Skies will remain mostly clear.
Monday, expect winds to pick up throughout the day. Winds will be from the south at 10 to 15 mph with stronger gusts up to 25 mph possible. Expect mainly upper level clouds but still plenty of sunshine. Highs will warm to the mid to upper 70s across the Big Country. Monday night, expect temperatures even milder into the mid-50s. Gusts will subside overnight.
Tuesday, a front is expected to move through in the mid to late afternoon. The timing of the front will dictate high temperatures for the day. The earlier in the afternoon the front moves through, highs will reach the mid to upper 60s. The later the front moves through, highs will get up to the low 70s. Lows will drop to the upper 30s overnight as north winds weaken.
Wednesday, temperatures will be much more seasonable with highs in the low 60s. Lots of sunshine is expected Wednesday with north winds turning back to the south through the day. Overnight, lows will be in the upper 30s to low 40s.
Thursday, another front will blow through early in the day bringing north winds to the Big Country through the rest of the day. Highs will only climb to the upper 50s to low 60s. Winds will be about 20 mph with stronger gusts in the morning and begin to taper off through the rest of the day. Lows will drop quite a bit and bring a light freeze to the area. Lows will be near freezing in some areas to upper 20s in low lying areas.
Friday and into the rest of the weekend- expect a warming trend and dry conditions.
Have a great week! -MM-
