KTXS Forecast: Cold Wednesday - even colder Friday


ABILENE, Texas - Colder air moved back in Tuesday. It will stay into Thursday morning. Evening colder arctic air is forecast to move in during the day Thursday and bring very cold days for Friday and Saturday.

High clouds should increase over the area Tuesday night. Low temperatures Wednesday morning should be in the middle 20s. Clouds are forecast to decrease during the day Wednesday, but afternoon temperatures will struggle to reach the middle 40s.

South winds will be back with us for Wednesday night. So, temperatures should not be as cold again Thursday morning with lows in the middle 30s.

Arctic air is forecast to blow in during the day Thursday. Look for increasing clouds with highs only around 40. It should be cloudy Thursday night with lows near 20 Friday morning.

We are tracking a chance for light snow mainly in the Panhandle and around the Texas / Oklahoma border for Thursday night into Friday morning. We could see some flurries in the Big Country Friday morning. No major accumulations of snow are forecast for our area.

Friday should be cloudy and continued very cold with highs trying to get to freezing. Friday night should have the coldest temperatures with lows Saturday morning in the middle to upper teens.

Saturday should have decreasing clouds with highs in the middle 30s. Sunday should be sunny with afternoon temperatures in the upper 40s.
