KTXS Forecast: First day of fall kicking off with near normal highs.

ABILENE, Texas - Good morning and TGIF! As you're getting up conditions outside will be clear to mostly clear with temperatures in the upper 60s to mid-70s and winds will be out of the south/ southeast at 5-15 mph.

For Friday afternoon and our first day of fall, highs will be near average in the low 90s with building cloud cover through the day. Winds will persist out of the south/ southeast at 5-15 mph and there will be a 10 percent chance of thundershowers later this afternoon. Friday night skies will clear and lows will cool back to the low 70s.

Into the weekend, both Saturday and Sunday will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy with highs in the upper 80s/ low 90s, which is around normal for this time of year. Both days winds will be out of the south/ southeast around 10-15 mph. Lows through this period will be in the upper 60s/ low 70s with partly cloudy skies and there will be building rain chances Sunday night.

Monday and Tuesday are expected to be mostly cloudy with highs staying in the mid/ upper 80s and winds will be out of the east at 5-15 mph. Through the afternoon both days there will be a 40-60 percent chance of scattered thundershowers across the Big Country. Lows through this period will be in the upper 60s with mostly cloudy skies and persisting rain chances.

On Wednesday a cold front will push through the region. This will keep skies cloudy with highs below normal in the low/ mid-80s and winds will switch to the northeast at 5-10 mph. Through the afternoon rain chances across the Big Country will remain around 50-60 percent. Wednesday night will be cloudy with lows in the low/ mid-60s and rain chances will remain.

Currently, for Thursday, it looks like cloud cover will remain and highs will keep to the low/ mid-80s. Rain chances through the day will linger around 20-40 percent.
