KTXS Forecast: Freezing rain possible in the Big Country Saturday morning
ABILENE, Texas - Temperatures have fallen to freezing over much of the northern and western portions of the Big Country Friday night. Light showers have been increasing over our region - moving north.
Freezing rain is possible for the Big Country mainly west and north of Abilene into midmorning Saturday. Watch out for possible icy spots especially on bridges and overpasses.
?The cold air should remain over our area Saturday. Rain showers should continue for much of the day. Under overcast skies, high temperatures Saturday should only warm into the 40s.
Temperatures are not expected to change much Saturday night and may actually warm a couple of degrees. Shower chances are low for Saturday evening, but should go back up Sunday morning. Low temperatures Sunday should be in the 40s.
South winds should return Sunday and warm temperatures back up to around 60. We are expecting a line of strong storms to move east through our area Sunday afternoon and evening. Expect heavy rainfall and lightning. Stronger storms may produce large hail and damaging winds.
Storms should move east of our area late Sunday night. Quiet weather is forecast for Monday.
