ABILENE, Texas - Hot weather will be felt by everyone but for the rest of the week pop-up t-storm chances will become isolated to the west and northwest sections of the Big Country.

For today, look for mostly sunny skies and hot weather. Temperatures should reach the upper 90s and lower 100s this afternoon. By late afternoon and early evening t-storms should be firing up near Lubbock. Some of those could reach our extreme western and northwest sections of the Big Country before dying out. Heavy rainfall, lightning and gusty winds will be possible. Winds will be breezy out of the south-southwest at 10 to 20 mph.

Tonight, we will start out with partly cloudy skies becoming mostly clear after midnight. Temperatures should cool back down to the upper 70s before sunrise Thursday morning. Winds stay breezy out of the south-southwest at 15 to 20 mph.

From Thursday through Saturday, our weather pattern will stay locked in place where slight chances for pop-up t-storms will be possible each afternoon. Storms should fire up near Lubbock and move east but could reach our extreme west and northwest Big Country areas before fading out.

Temperatures should warm back to the low 100s on Thursday but max out in the upper 90s each afternoon starting Friday through next Tuesday.

No rain chances are in the forecast on Sunday but slight chances for pop-up t-storms return for the Big Country on Monday and Tuesday.
