KTXS Forecast: Increasing rain chances into the weekend ahead of next cold front.

ABILENE, Texas - Good morning and TGIF! As you're getting up conditions outside will be mostly clear to partly cloudy with some high level clouds moving through the region. Temperatures will range from the mid-50s to low 60s and winds are out of the south at 10-20 mph. There will be isolated rain chances for most of the Big Country this morning.

Friday afternoon we'll keep some cloud cover but highs will be around normal in the mid/ upper 70s with south winds at 10-20 mph. There will be a 10-20 percent chance of isolated thundershowers through the day. Friday night will become partly cloudy to mostly cloudy with lows in the low/ mid-60s and we'll have lingering rain chances.

Into the weekend, on Saturday, we'll be partly cloudy with highs warming to above normal in the mid-80s. Winds will be out of the southwest at 10-20 mph through the day and we'll build rain chances through the afternoon. Saturday night our next cold front will start to move into the region. As the front passes through late Saturday into early Sunday, skies will become mostly cloudy, lows will cool to the low 50s and winds will switch to the northwest at 10-20 mph. Thunderstorm chances overnight will hover around 40-60 percent with the possibility of some severe storms. Best severe weather chances are for northeastern areas of the Big Country. Main threats currently look like strong winds, heavy rain and possible hail.

Into Sunday afternoon rain chances move out, skies clear to mostly sunny conditions and winds will be out of the north at 5-15 mph. Highs will be around normal in the mid-70s. Sunday night will see mostly clear conditions and lows will cool to the upper 40s/ low 50s.

Currently for Monday through Thursday, not much change is expected. Skies will stay sunny to mostly sunny with highs remaining in the mid/ upper 70s with winds mainly from the northwest at 5-15 mph. Lows through this period will be in the mid-40s to low 50s with clear conditions.
