KTXS Forecast: January temperatures return to the forecast

ABILENE, Texas - For today, much cooler temperatures are expected as a northwesterly wind at 5 to 15 mph brings in cooler air. Even under sunny skies, high temperatures should range from the middle to upper 50s.

Tonight will get cold. Under clear skies and with a light wind from the north, overnight lows should drop into the upper 20s and lower 30s.

Our weather pattern remains fairly settled as we finish out the work week and head into the weekend. The only feature worth noting is a weak upper level disturbance that becomes detached from the main jet stream and begins working southwest towards Baja California. At this time, an increase in cloud cover may be noted at the end of the weekend for areas south of I-20. A small rain shower may reach our extreme southern counties from possible rainy areas on Sunday and Monday near I-10. That small rain possibility may include San Angelo.

That being said, sunny to mostly sunny skies are expected to prevail for the Big Country through at least Tuesday of next week with no rain chances at this time. High temperatures should peak in the lower to middle 50s Thursday through Saturday then warm to the upper 50s to middle 60s Sunday through Tuesday.
