KTXS Forecast: Mostly cloudy and cool

ABILENE, Texas - A cold front moved south through most of our area Monday. The Big Country enjoyed a cooler day with high temperatures in the 60s and 70s.

However, it was still hot in the Heartland and Concho Valley Monday afternoon with high temperatures around 90. Cooler air is forecast to continue to filter in Monday night and Tuesday.

We are tracking an upper level disturbance that should bring rain to our area for the first half of Wednesday. One inch of rain will be possible.

Mostly cloudy skies should continue Monday night. Low temperatures Tuesday morning should be around 50. Mostly cloudy skies are expected for Tuesday. High temperatures will try to warm to 60 with north winds around 15 mph.

Rain is forecast to develop over our area late Tuesday night and rain is likely for Wednesday morning. Temperatures may be in the upper 30s to start the day.

The rain is expected to move southeast out of the Big County by early afternoon Wednesday. It should be south of our area before sundown Wednesday. High temperatures Wednesday should only climb into the low to middle 40s.

Clear skies should be with us late Wednesday night. A light freeze is forecast for Thursday morning. Lows should be around 32.

Sunny skies are back for Thursday. High temperatures should warm back to around 60. Partly cloudy skies are forecast for Friday and Saturday with highs in the middle 60s Friday and the lower 70s Saturday.

A weak cold front is expected to move through Saturday with the rain staying to our east. Sunny skies should be with us Sunday with afternoon temperatures in the lower 70s.
