KTXS Forecast: Nice weather persists

ABILENE, Texas - Fair skies continued over our region Thursday. Temperatures were once again 5-10 degrees below normal for this time of year.

Mostly clear skies should stay with us Thursday night. Low temperatures Friday morning should be around 60. Sunny skies are back Friday. Afternoon temperatures should be in the middle to upper 80s.

Nice weather is forecast for the football games Friday evening. Kickoff temperatures should be in the lower 80s with readings in the lower 70s by the end of the game. Low temperatures Saturday morning should be in the lower 60s.

Mostly sunny skies are expected for both Saturday and Sunday with highs in the middle to upper 80s both days. Dry weather will likely stay with us for the next seven days.

Hurricane Katia in the southern Gulf of Mexico is forecast moving onshore Late Friday night between Tampico and Veracruz.

Strong Hurricane Irma is still expected to move into southern Florida Saturday afternoon and march north through most of the peninsula Sunday into Monday.

Hurricane Jose should pass near the northern Leeward Islands late Friday and then turn north into the open Atlantic Ocean.
