KTXS Forecast: Overnight cold front to bring a weekend cooldown
ABILENE, Texas - Friday morning skies will be mostly clear to partly cloudy with temperatures in the low to upper 60s and have winds from the south at 10-20 mph.
Friday afternoon the area will have mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies with highs staying in the upper 80s/ low 90s. Winds will slow a bit from the south/ southwest at 5-15 mph. Friday night our next cold front will begin moving into the region. This will cause skies to become partly cloudy/ mostly cloudy, lows will cool to the low/ mid-60s and winds will switch to the northwest at 5-15 mph. Rain chances will build to 30-40 percent late tonight. As of the Friday morning model runs, the severe weather risk for tonight remains low but possible and mainly in to the northern part of the Big country.
Saturday afternoon rain chances will remain around 30-40 percent on and off through the day. Highs will be in the mid/ upper 70s with partly cloudy skies and northwest winds at 10-15 mph. Saturday night rain chances remain and lows cool to the mid-40s.
Sunday morning rain chances move out and by the afternoon skies clear to mostly sunny. Highs will be in the upper 60s/ low 70s with winds from the northwest at 10-15 mph. Sunday night the region will be clear and lows will cool to the mid-40s.
For Monday and Tuesday skies will be sunny to mostly sunny with highs warming back to the low/ mid-80s. Lows through this period will be in the low/ mid-50s.
On Wednesday another cold front will move through the region. This will cause highs to cool to the mid/ upper 70s with partly cloudy skies winds switching to the north at 5-15 mph. There will be a 10 percent chance of thundershowers through the afternoon. Wednesday night skies clear slightly and lows cool to the upper 40s.
By Thursday the region will be mostly sunny with highs warming back to the upper 70s/ low 80s.
