KTXS Forecast: Overnight cold front to bring below normal temperatures
ABILENE, Texas - Friday morning we will begin with mostly clear to partly cloudy skies, temperatures in the low to mid-60s and winds from the south at 5-15 mph. Northernmost counties of the Big Country have a stray chance of a thundershower before the lunch hour.
Friday afternoon skies clear to mostly sunny with highs in the upper 80s/ low 90s and winds build from the southwest at 10-20 mph with higher gusts expected. Tonight a cold front will move through the region causing skies to become partly cloudy. Lows will cool to the low 50s with winds switching to the northwest at 10-20 mph and there will be a 10-20 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms overnight.
Saturday afternoon skies will become mostly sunny with highs well below normal in the upper 60s/ low 70s and winds will be out of the north at 10-20 mph. Saturday night the area will be clear with lows in the low/ mid-40s.
On Sunday the region will be sunny with highs in the low 70s and winds will switch to the southeast at 5-15 mph. Sunday night is expected to be clear and in the mid-40s.
Monday afternoon we quickly warm back to the low 80s with sunny skies and winds from the south at 5-15 mph. Monday night will be mostly clear with lows in the low/ mid-50s.
Tuesday the warming trend continues and highs reach the upper 80s with mostly sunny conditions. Tuesday night will be mostly clear and in the low 60s.
Currently for Wednesday and Thursday, it looks like highs will make it to the upper 80s/ low 90s with mostly sunny skies and winds from the south at 5-15 mph. Lows through this period will be in the low/ mid-60s.
